Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Location: New York

Finn Partners is looking for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to administer activities relating to the pay and benefits systems, facilitate the entry of employee information into our HRIS, and assist employees in the areas of pay, benefits, leave administration and other related activities. The ideal candidate has multi-state payroll and benefits experience and a long-term goal to build their career in Personnel Management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point person for all HRIS inquiries; perform administration and technical maintenance of HRIS and time management system
  • Enter new hires, terminations, and personnel data changes into the HRIS
  • Use HRIS software to prepare and maintain records of employee hiring, promotion, transfers, or termination
  • Provide HRIS reports as required and analyze employee data
  • Perform semi-monthly payroll audits
  • Manage non-exempt payroll; review payroll timesheets and adjudicate overtime and additional; keep track of non-exempt new hires, promotions and terminations for accurate and seamless payroll transition
  • Conduct weekly benefits orientations and assist with new hire benefits enrollment
  • Process all benefit enrollments and changes (medical, dental, life insurance, 401k, FSA/HSA, disability/FMLA leave, and more)
  • Serve as a contact and administrator with the third-party COBRA administrator and benefits brokers
  • Assist with 401K plan administration: maintain files, assist with yearly compliance reporting, etc.
  • Prepare and submit EEO- 1 report
  • Respond to requests for employment verifications in a timely manner
  • Assist employees by responding to general employment questions related to onboarding, benefits, company practices, and policies
  • Assist the Benefits & Payroll Manager as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or the like.
  • 2-4 years relevant experience with processing multi-state payroll and administering benefits programs
  • Strong working knowledge of general payroll protocols
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a proactive approach
  • Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office with advanced experience in Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Commitment to employee service
  • Knowledge of EEO, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, Workers Compensation, DOL, E-Verify, and other related Federal & State laws required
