What would be your splurge meal, and at what restaurant?

While a splurge meal would probably be a good steak (and sweet potato fries), I can always go for a good Israeli breakfast or an interesting salad. My husband and I went out for lunch on a Summer-5 day, and I had the most interesting salad that besides the regular lettuce, cucumber, tomato, etc., had teriyaki-sautéed mushrooms and a roasted nut topping and was garnished with pesto-cheese-stuffed fried cigars. Yum!

What is the one professional development tip that has been invaluable to you?

You can’t succeed without taking risks. By stepping out of my comfort zone and making suggestions or asking questions that might be ‘wrong,’ I find that I not only gain but show others that I’m thinking and looking to grow.

What is your greatest professional achievement?

When I used to work as managing editor of a print publication, I once had to produce (oversee/edit all content, layout and ads) a 164-page magazine with very limited assistance, all while planning my son’s Bar Mitzvah party.

What is your favorite app, and your favorite electronic gadget?

My favorite app is probably Spotify. Its most crucial role is accompanying me on my 1 hour+ commute to work. I even have a relaxing playlist called “417” named after the number of the bus I take.

I also must listen to music when walking/jogging and find plugging earphones in helps me zone in and concentrate on my work when in the office.

I’m not much of an electronic gadget type—I always prefer a pen and paper for a to-do list, or an actual book over a Kindle.

What is the one principle that has guided your life and career?

Honesty is the best policy. Even when mistakes are made, both professionally and personally—including in parenting—owning up to them may be uncomfortable and difficult in the moment, but in the long run, is the ‘right’ thing to do and usually works out for the best.
