A Bucket List Moment at THE PLAYERS with FINN Partners

In 2019, I caught the bug: the golf bug.
While I’ve always been a huge sports fan and grew up playing a variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, football, tennis, and even water polo, the one sport that never caught my eye was golf.
“It’s an old man’s game. Is it even a sport?”
“Too easy! The ball just sits there, you don’t even have to break a sweat.”
Little did I know it would become the sport that has taken over my life in the best way possible. You see, as a young kid I always dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player, but in high school that dream was quickly squashed when I realized there was just too much talent out there. That was okay though, I could still play and compete in weekend recreational leagues and continue enjoying my first love: futbol!
However, in my 20s my knees decided to turn on me. Withing a five-year spread, I suffered three separate knee injuries, tearing my ACL three times – twice in my left knee, and once in my right. After going through the pain again, I came to the realization that I’d be enjoying “the world’s game,” from the sidelines moving forward.
As someone who has competed in sports for most of my life, I felt incomplete without soccer and needed a new challenge. Something to work toward and consistently improve on. I needed to compete again!
Over the past four years, golf has been this outlet for me, and I couldn’t be happier. From getting my outfit together the night before, to the smell of fresh cut grass at the course, and the sportsmanship among friends. I’d be lost without it.
I share this story for context to the gratitude I’ve been feeling since last week. Thanks to FINN Partners and our Consumer Lifestyle and Sports practice , I found myself laying out my outfit ready to attend one of the most historic and iconic events on the PGA Tour, THE PLAYERS Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. A true bucket list moment!

With plans of expanding and extending its deal with the PGA Tour, this past Sunday our team announced Comcast Business as the newest “proud partner” of THE PLAYERS Championship. Sports marketing and sponsorship remains one of the most impactful strategies brands can employ, and is something our passionate group of experts specializes in.
It was an honor to be on-site at Sawgrass supporting our clients, lining up media meetings and pitching the news. A big thanks to all those that covered announcement, including NBC Golf Channel, Sports Business Journal, Jacksonville Business Journal, Ponte Vedra Recorder, Sports Video Group, and many others.
This was one of those moments where work and play intersected beautifully, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
