Public Relations Account Supervisor – Financial Services PR (NYC)

NEW YORK: The Public Relations Account Supervisor will be based in our NY, NY office. This is a hybrid work schedule role, working 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely each week. Qualified PR Account Supervisor applicants will have 4+ years of prior public relations experience (preferably at an agency) working with clients in the financial services B2B and B2C sector (investing, crypto, banking, and payments etc.). There is one job opening at SAE or AS level, and this is the ad for the AS role.

The PR account supervisor is an essential client contact and ensures our team develops and executes high-quality strategic communications campaigns that exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with partner-level executives to manage multiple concurrent public relations account teams and programs.
  • Serve as day-to-day client contact under senior team account leaders, managing account timelines and budget, leading weekly calls, tactical execution, media relations, and overall day-to-day activities on the account.
  • Participate in the development and execution of creative, strategic client public relations programs and campaigns, including budget and KPI tracking.
  • Implement core PR campaigns – planning, media strategy/pitching, event management, social media, content writing/editing, research, and account administration.
  • Develop communications materials including client-ready documents, strategies, pitches, media lists, press releases, key messages, briefing books, blog posts, external facing press materials and bylined articles.
  • Execute strong media relations campaigns while motivating and mentoring junior staff on larger storytelling techniques, expert positioning and reactive media relations. Ensure the team is securing national, trade, and local media placements by proactively researching and pitching compelling story angles.
  • Remain proactive on the media front, including but not limited to developing fresh and timely pitch ideas, flagging relevant trends for reactive “news jacking” opportunities.
  • Actively build and maintain strong relationships with the media across relevant client verticals and top tier media and/or engaging with new media contacts,
  • Support the development of client presentations including new business proposals, annual plans, strategy memos, and KPI/metric reports, 
  • Oversees quality development and timely delivery of project trackers, call agendas, action items/recaps, weekly, biweekly, and monthly verbal and other written client reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or public relations.
  • 4+ years of prior PR experience preferably at a PR agency (Senior Account Executive level or equivalent) working with C-suite level corporate and financial services clients or in-house corporate communications role.
  • Strong and effective writing and editing skills.
  • High proficiency in verbal communication, and experience in liaising in a client-facing role.
  • Possesses strong media relations strategy and storytelling skills.
  • Crafts compelling messages that drive business goals and elevate client programs; is a refined communicator.
  • Experience working with traditional and social media strategies and campaigns.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and the agility needed to thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Advises and drives results that effectively meet internal and external needs and exceed client expectations.
  • Team player who enjoys actively collaborating with teammates and sharing industry knowledge. 
  • Has some prior experience supervising and driving high-level thinking among junior public relations staff to ensure a full pipeline of top-tier, trend, and feature stories.
  • Displays compassionate and inspiring mentorship skills; counsels junior-level staff in a positive and motivational manner.
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced, growing environment.

Salary range is $75,000 -$90,000. The salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience and dependent upon the workplace.
