OUR WORK world shoe

Launching a game changer in Ghana.

In Ghana and across many parts of West Africa, school children face daily exposure to soil transmitted helminths, parasitic worms that thrive in environments where protective footwear is limited. These infections can lead to chronic health issues, impair cognitive development, and reduce school attendance. The need for durable, antimicrobial footwear is urgent, not just as a product, but as a public health intervention.

Against this backdrop, World Shoe launched its groundbreaking factory in Akosombo, Ghana, to locally manufacture the first antimicrobial, eco-friendly footwear brand on the continent. We developed a comprehensive communications strategy to position this initiative not only as an industrial achievement, but as a life-changing step for communities in the region. By addressing a critical public health gap through innovation and access, World Shoe is investing in global health from the ground up. Our efforts secured extensive media coverage across Ghana, Nigeria, and international markets. In addition, we provided media training for World Shoe executives and facilitated high-impact interviews, ensuring the company’s leadership was well-prepared to engage with media and stakeholders.

The Work

World Shoe asked FINN Partners to not only lead the communications rollout but also identify and engage key local stakeholders and dignitaries for the launch event. We crafted press materials, developed targeted media lists, and pitched exclusive stories to top-tier pan-African media. Our on-the-ground coordination ensured seamless interview execution, resulting in widespread post-event coverage and increased awareness of World Shoe’s mission to deliver eco-friendly, antimicrobial footwear made in Africa for Africans.

The factory launch in Akosombo served as a powerful moment to amplify World Shoe’s larger vision. The campaign successfully positioned World Shoe as a sustainability-focused manufacturing leader in Africa and earned recognition from industry publications as a model for regional innovation. As the producer of the first antimicrobial footwear brand manufactured on the continent, World Shoe is setting a new standard in purpose-driven production and pan-African enterprise.
