Professional Experience
My thirst for storytelling and popularising information led me to pivot towards a new direction. I pursued studies in journalism, embarking on a journey to amplify voices and shed light on critical issues, such as the right to health for all, through the power of words.
As a journalist, I honed my skills in crafting compelling narratives about pressing issues, including those within global health. I particularly prefer all initiatives that can improve women’s and children’s health in sub-Saharan Africa. This is why I began a “third life” as a Communication Officer. I want to contribute to the popularisation of initiatives, research results and activities of organisations involved in health.
I bring experience and a deep-rooted commitment to leveraging communication for positive change. My journey from gender advocacy to journalism to global health communication has equipped me with a unique perspective and a versatile skill set. One goal drives my journey: to harness the power of communication to inspire, inform, and empower individuals and sub-Saharan African communities.
Health is a human right, not a privilege.
- Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO)
How'd you get here?
My journey began at the African Development Bank as a gender expert. I soon realised my potential as a journalist. I began working for the Associated Press as a reporter and television producer in French and English, mainly on the West coast of Africa. In my free time, I work for the Sustainable Trade Initiative and Code for Africa, developing news stories and training AI to recognise fake news.
My journey to specialising in health communications in East Africa has been marked by a genuine commitment to understanding the region’s unique healthcare landscape. I engaged with local communities, learned about their health priorities, and listened to their perspectives. This firsthand insight helped me tailor communication strategies that resonated with diverse audiences and effectively addressed their needs.
