How'd you get here?
For me, you could take this in three different directions so I’ll try to answer all of them! First off, I got into technology by starting off coding websites and doing primitive SEO (these were the days of submitting websites manually to Altavista not to date myself!) as work experience in school, and then applied to Cambridge University to read Computer Science. That said, realized while on that degree I liked talking about technology more than I liked actually building it! Which leads to the next point of how I got into comms… while at college I was heavily involved in organizing sports & travel events and thought I wanted to get into events management so got an internship at a sports management agency, to swiftly realize that most of that was cold calling businesses to get them to buy tables at an upcoming event. But during that internship we were invited to organize the retirement party for the then-English rugby captain and I got tasked with calling up the Sports Editors at the major papers and broadcast to attend — and reporters were so much nicer than the business leaders! So I decided that PR was my calling instead, with tech as my focus! I then got into the graduate program at Weber Shandwick working on brands like Siemens, Samsung and Microsoft, and never looked back. And then finally, how did I get to San Francisco? Working in the tech industry, SF has always been the epicenter and I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to come out ten years ago to grow the footprint of my previous agency that had been founded in Europe. The initial plan was just to come out for three years but ten years later I’m still here and loving it and excited to be part of FINN to bring all of my passions of technology + comms + global together.
