BOOM SCROLL: AUGUST 2025

August 11, 2025

Need to speed-read your social feed? Here’s the social intel from last month you definitely need to know.

#1 LinkedIn: Power to the People

In a recent update, LinkedIn teased a future feature that will let users pay to boost their personal posts. And that future is sooner than you think.

💥 The Boom

  • Per LinkedIn: “Amplify your voice by boosting a personal LinkedIn post.”
  • The feature drops in Q3 2025.

Our take

Currently, only company pages can boost employee posts as “thought leader ads” — can you say clunky workaround? This new feature cuts out the middleman and puts promotion power right where it belongs: in the user’s hands. So start strategizing now, because your thought leadership efforts are about to get a major upgrade.

#2 Instagram: Posts about Posts

Instagram’s Creators account just laid out its content playbook, telling brands exactly what each format is for. Consider it gospel.

💥 The Boom

  • To reach new audiences? Use reels and carousels.
  • To engage your followers? Post single photos and stories.
  • To nurture super-fans? Go Live or use channels.

Our take

Simply put, if you want growth, focus on reels and carousels. They have the best reach, the most viral potential and the highest shareability. Before you post a single photo, ask if it can be expanded into a carousel. That video for stories? Make it a reel instead. Repeat after us: reels and carousels.

#3 TikTok: Is This Actually, Finally, Truly The End?

Here we go again. In the latest TikTok twist, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick went on TV to announce the platform’s last chance at a deal. No more extensions.

💥 The Boom

  • The new go dark date is September 17.
  • As of now, there’s been no announcement of a deal or sale.
  • Meanwhile, TikTok is apparently building a special U.S. version of the app.

Our take

Could this finally be the end? We’ll believe it when we see it. But if you’ve been following our advice and diversifying your vertical video strategy across other platforms, you’re in a good spot no matter what happens.

#4 X: Mo Emoji, Mo Money

First X came for ads with tall images. Then, ads with hashtags. Now? Ads with more than one emoji.

💥 The Boom

  • A new X notification warns that using more than one emoji in an ad will lower its quality score.
  • A lower quality score means your ad will cost more to run.

Our take

It may sound petty, but this is another move by X to clean up spammy-looking ads on the platform. No one likes an ad stuffed with hashtags and emojis. FWIW, our long-standing advice still holds: use both sparingly, no matter the platform.

#5 Instagram: The #LinkInBio Myth

Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri just busted a huge myth: using the term “Link in Bio” in your caption will not hurt your post’s reach.

💥 The Boom

  • Per Mosseri: Using “Link in Bio” neither helps nor hurts.
  • He even admitted to using it in his own posts.

Our take

So, Link in Bio won’t hurt your performance, but don’t use it as a crutch. Instagram works best when brands post “zero-click content.” Challenge yourself to bring the full story into your reel or a carousel first. Then, if you’ve earned the attention of your followers, go ahead and tease them with a Link in Bio plug.
