Account Manager – Financial Services PR

Finn Partners is a full-service communications agency. Our Financial Services PR team works with clients across the financial services industry, from global institutions such as corporate and investment banks, to fintechs, credit rating agencies, analytics providers, financial market lobbyists and insurance brokers. Combining intelligence-led news generation and thought-leadership campaigns, the team focuses on communicating clients’ expertise and promoting media coverage using a range of content generation and media penetration strategies. It also acts as a trusted collaborative partner with a deep understanding of industry trends and client sensitivities. 

We are looking to fill an Account Manager (AM) role in our Frankfurt, Germany office. This person will take the lead on servicing a range of clients, delivering high-quality media results that meet or exceed client goals. The AM will devise and implement creative strategies that utilise traditional and digital/social media. The candidate will develop client content, including commentaries, whitepapers and awards pitches, while actively participating in media outreach.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage work streams and serve as day-to-day contact with clients located in Germany, and elsewhere, including the UK
  • Develop and cultivate valued relationships with clients and external audiences
  • Write strong thought leadership and news content that captures the client’s voice and conveys key messages to target audiences
  • Conduct outreach to reporters and editors that results in favourable media coverage
  • Handle more involved media inquiries, including hosting interviews with journalists
  • Produce quality content, often on complex issues, efficiently and in a variety of formats (e.g., whitepapers, commentaries, Q&As, awards submissions, newsletters, speeches, collateral material, talking points, quotes and social media posts)
  • Track and understand client industry issues and how they are impacted by developments such as regulatory activities, technological advancements and changing market demands
  • Attend and contribute to regular client content/strategy calls and meetings
  • Assist clients in preparing for industry/internal events, including arranging logistics, speakers and talking points, as well as preparing invitations and write-ups as required
  • Manage quality of work by demonstrating professionalism and team leadership
  • Delegate work within the team accordingly, managing timescales and reviewing and editing output – including pitches, press releases, briefing docs, research lists and status reports – prepared by Assistant Account Executives, Account Executives or Senior Account Executives
  • Actively develop the team and provide coaching and feedback
  • Serve as a main point of contact with stakeholders, external organisations, partners and vendors
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other teams and offices, as required, to maximise the effectiveness of the client strategy
  • Produce high-quality results under tight deadlines 
  • Address client issues thoughtfully and effectively
  • Communicate effectively with team members

Required Skills & Experience

  • Creative strategy development and execution
  • Fluency in German and English – both written and speaking
  • Excellent client communication and leadership skills
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce written documents targeting different audiences
  • Ability to supervise and motivate account staff
  • Problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work well within a dynamic, fast-paced, results-oriented team environment
  • Messaging and brand development experience
  • Experience in investor relations a plus
  • 3-4 years’ experience, preferably within an agency atmosphere or in-house at a financial institution
