It’s not every day that one of your colleagues is honored by an entire industry, so when that happens, it creates a truly inspirational moment for all of us at Finn Partners. Last night, Senior Partner Helen Shelton was honored at the 9th annual BCA Global Food and Wine Experience for her work to promote excellence and diversity within the wine and spirits industry. Over the years, Helen has worked with several iconic brands and has developed dozens of signature campaigns for mass market to ultra-premium labels, while pioneering the use of branded entertainment, radio and social media in the spirits marketing communications mix. So, it was only fitting that she was recognized amongst more than 300 industry leaders and influencers in accepting the 2012 Vision in Wine and Spirit Award. All of us at Finn Partners salute BCA Global for the tremendous contributions it continues to make and the opportunities it creates for professionals and students of diverse backgrounds. Moreover, we are so very proud of Helen for receiving this terrific award and for her accomplishments that inspire us all.
A golden anniversary often sneaks up on you – leading to the question, “Where did the time go?” This is what we asked ourselves late in 2011 as we at Planned Television Arts gathered to figure out exactly how we wanted to mark this special occasion.
We owe such a debt of gratitude to Mike Levine, who founded this firm in 1962 based on the huge upswing in TV’s popularity. We started out organizing fashion shows, if you can believe it, on a new little show called The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson, and over time grew to serve all types of companies, nonprofits, associations, publishers and authors with full service media campaigns. We were innovators in leveraging Satellite Television and Morning Drive Radio Tours, two capabilities that clients all over the world come to us for even today.
But our capabilities go beyond that – and that’s why we are launching our new brand in Finn Partners MEDIA CONNECT. The way people consume media has changed – it’s important that those we promote are out in front, connecting with people across all mediums. MEDIA CONNECT captures the essence of who we are and what we do along these lines.
I’ve worked at PTA, now MEDIA CONNECT, for 26 years. I’m proud today to serve as managing director as we turn the page on this new chapter in our history. And I look forward to 50 more years (or at least another 26!) of doing what we do best: making our clients stars.

And stay tuned right here for a very special interview with Mike Levine himself next week!
When you are launching a new company, you need a rallying cry – something that helps bring people together in support of a common mission. Given Finn Partners’ history and work in the arts, we felt music could help us accomplish this goal. In the summer of 2011, I was referred to Alec Gross, a singer/songwriter who also extends his talent to special projects like ours. From our first meeting it was apparent that Alec understood what we wanted to capture with this song – the idea that true collaboration, often a catch-phrase in business, is alive and thriving in Finn Partners.
Finn Partners is the culmination of a vision managing partner Peter Finn has long-held; which is that an agency founded on the concept of true partnership will foster an environment in which independent-minded professionals deliver the best in client service, creativity and results. And the proof is in the pudding. We are off to a great start in 2012, winning new business, launching campaigns, hiring talent – all the while continuing to produce amazing results.
After Alec learned about the history of Finn Partners and its people, he went away to compose the song. When I heard it for the first time, I knew he had hit upon something special. It’s one thing for a company to say it’s a partnership; it’s quite another to see it in action – what that means on a daily basis. It means we put our clients first, regardless of the bottom line. It means we say no to projects that don’t fit our ideals. And it means we work together in order to accomplish small miracles every day. Alec thought this was brave, and we realized it was. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m Matt Krieger, a partner in our Jerusalem office. A couple of months ago, Glenn Jasper and I had the privilege of meeting many of our colleagues during a whirlwind tour of the Finn Partners’ U.S. offices. We had a great time and left all of our meetings feeling that we are really part of a special PR firm. We especially enjoyed discussing one of the more gratifying aspects of our work – the opportunity to tell the world the “Israel story” beyond the geo-political news that dominates most of the headlines coming out of this region – something that we will have the opportunity to do again as the official international PR firm for the 2012 Israeli Presidential Conference: “Facing Tomorrow.”
The “Facing Tomorrow” Conference is the brainchild of Israeli President Shimon Peres, and since the first conference in 2008, the event has become the most important international event held in Israel, attracting the participation of heads of state, leading businessmen, academics, scientists and politicians, all of whom come together to discuss the most pressing issues facing us today and how we can best shape our shared future.
The Finn Partners Israel team, selected as the Conference’s international public relations partner for the second consecutive year, will be responsible for all international and Jewish media outreach and will assist with social media and strategic marketing activities for the conference. For more information on this news, please read: “Finn Partners Selected as International Public Relations Partner for Fourth Annual Israeli Presidential Conference.”
From a PR point of view, last year’s conference was an overwhelming success – over the three day event, more than 500 journalists and bloggers from dozens of countries around the world participated, resulting in thousands of impressions in outlets such as The New York Times, CNBC, The LA Times, Fast Company, Forbes, The Huffington Post, CNN and The Jerusalem Post. We coordinated some 50 on-site interviews with conference VIPs, such as Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, Goldman Sachs Partner Abby Joseph Cohen and WPP CEO Martin Sorrell for journalists at the conference, resulting in in-depth news coverage and significant exposure for the Israeli Presidential Conference all over the world.
For our team, one of the highlights of the conference was having the opportunity to work directly with President Peres – he loves speaking with the foreign press and always provides journalists with excellent sound bites.
We are really looking forward to getting started on this year’s conference – as we get closer to the event, we will keep you posted with updates and news.
